About us

History

Virtus Computing is made up of a small group of people who have a passion for computing. It first started up when 3 people met at Wyke Sixth Form College in Hull in September 2012 doing a Level 3 BTEC in Computing. We believe that the future is in technology and with it, all is possible. With a love of computing and the desire to help people, we came up with an idea to develop online content to help as many people as possible. Each of us have our own area in which we specialise in and we are all interested in learning. We are always willing to help and willing to expand. Everything we do is to help that of the people who are interested in our content so we do not aim to make a profit.

What we do

We plan to help the world in educating people. We do this by by creating online video tutorials and written guides on various computing related subjects. This includes things such as how to install operating systems and hardware. We also offer support for a range of operating systems and hardware. Check below for more information on supported hardware and Operating systems.

Our Technology

One thing that interests us is technology and doing things with it ourself. Because of this, we own a lot of our own equipment and try to only use open source software or develop it ourself. We currently have a network around 15 servers across the world including England and the United States. We have 8 servers in Hull (England) used for Testing, Development and hosting. We have a further two in Manchester and 4 in Gloucester. In the US, we have 3 located in Chicago Metro, Indiana. All of our servers use a free open source operating system called linux which all of the services are managed by ourself so we know exacly what goes in to it. They are also alot more secure. We also know alot about windows operating systems including the server distributions. We also develop programs for windows machines and android phones and tablets aswell as online web applications. We tend to use a lot of different languages systems and technologies. Only big one we dont use is Mac/Apple. We do however plan to add support for these devices some time in the future.
